    Apium F300 - Filament Dryer

The Apium F300 is the filament dryer for open material 3D-printing systems. This machine is used on the 3D-printing materials before the print and reduces the moisture related issues with these high performance materials, thus increasing the success rate of additive manufacturing projects.

    Easy use of machine

The Apium F300 filament dryer can be used on standard to high-performance polymer materials, such as PVA, PA, PP, ABS, PEI, PPSU and PEEK. Users can set the temperature directly and select from a preset menu of drying profiles. Of course these profiles and be ammended to fit to individual drying needs.

    Easy integration of machine

This filament dryer does not require copressed air or cooling fluid and the noise level lies beneath 45 dB(A). Additionally, the Apium F300 is energy efficient and provides multiple filament outputs.

    Safety

The Apium F300 filament dryer has a built-in overcurrent protection and overheating protection. Also, the machine is fully insulated to avoid effecting its surrounding's temperature.

Benefits of pre-dried filament during 3D printing

    Extrusion Quality

Most high-performance 3D-printing materials are hygroscopic, this means the materials are likely to absorb moisture from around them and then interact with the water content in the ambient air. Because of this, drying the filaments before use, to remove all moisture, leads to a better end result. The dried, moisture-free materials no longer hold molten form bubbles and thus have better optical properties and less component defects.

    Surface Finish

As stated before, the dried materials lead to better optical properties, one of those is the surface finish. Parts printed with dried materials are smoother and because of that can meet needs for prints with very specific dimensions, as they offer more accuracy in dimensions and a higher surface quality.

    Oozing and Stringing

Through drying the 3D-printing materials before use, oozing and stringing can be avoided. Normally users will notice a certain amount of oozing from the nozzle of the 3D printer, however, making use of a filament dryer before beginning the printing process can significantly reduce the oozing that occurs. Similarily, pre-dried filaments run a reduced risk of stringing during manufacturing.

    Mechanical Properties

Parts printed from pre-dried filaments showcase stronger mechanical properties and less structural failures than their non-dried counterparts.

    Interlayer Adhesion

Using dry filament during the printing process can help to avoid hydrolysis, as this deteriorates mechanical properties of polymers and can lead to delamination during the ongoing additive manufacturing process.

    Cosmetics Defects

When working with pre-dried filaments, the chances of moisture related printing defects shrink substantially.
